He was found guilty and sentenced in the Minutas case, but has since failed to report to court
Guzmán was sentenced to 6 years and 1 day in the case, and the decision to issue the warrant was taken after he failed to report to the court after being given an extension for a hearing on its decision on any ‘precautionary measures’ which may be imposed against him. It’s understood that Guzmán was in Cuba visiting his daughter when the original hearing was held earlier this month, at which prosecutors asked that he be remanded to custody or deposit bail of 250,000 €.
Del Nido and the ex Mayor of Marbella, Julián Muñoz, were each sentenced to 7.5 years in the case, but have been allowed to remain free while their appeal their sentences.
